Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed post! I really appreciate how you included quotes from both "An Exaltation of Forms", which was able to explain how poems can be interpretted in a variety of ways as well as quotes from a specific ghazal in order to explain your thoughts further. I really enjoy your inclusion of the poem "Souvenir", and direct quotes from that work that may explain how individuals can portray the writing differently. Like yu had said, an individual reading "Souvenir" may interpret the poem as literal and understand the characters speak two different languages while others may take the poemj metaphorically and understand that the individuals simply cannot understand each other. In the poem, "The Jewel House" that I had read, it is very easy to interpret that work in many ways as well. While some individuals may take meanings literally, some may take them metaphorically and take away a completely different understanding, possibly due to the independent couplets that are difficult to decipheer. Do you personally think that the refrain is the most powerful technique in the ghazal that provides its meaning, or do you think something else provides that strength of the poem? Thank you again for your great post!
